Where’s My Zen: Homeschooling and Exercise (Episode 8)

When you become a mom, things change. Exercise isn’t what it used to be… and your body isn’t what it used to be. Things change and that luxurious gym you belonged to decades ago is a thing of the past. Exercise feels out of reach. You find yourself doing yoga in the living room over a laundry basket, desperately searching for your zen. Or, you have a child by your side, commenting on the yoga faces you are making… or pretending to be your spin instructor…

… and sometimes, you might find yourself afraid to go biking at all! It’s hard enough to make the space for exercise as a mom, but when you add homeschooling to the mix things get even trickier!

September is National Yoga Month! To celebrate, Cait and Kara want to support you where you are with exercising by giving away one of our very favorite workout shirts featuring our favorite saying: You’ve got this!  And you’re going to want to keep reading to find out more!

(Psst! If you are enjoying our podcast, we’d love it if you could head over to iTunes and rate the show- it helps other homeschooling moms to find us.)

Yes please do the podcast on being a woman.
I try and exercise in the early morning before the kids wake up. Otherwise it doesn’t seem to happen.

I am very late to replying on this episode, but hopefully this helps someone. I only have one toddler who sometimes nap, so I sometimes workout. If he doesn’t nap we walk, a lot. I hope to one day get up before him, but it’s so hard! However, the things I find helpful in working out at home are 1) a spin bike (Amazon has some that are under $300 and great!), I have recently heard of the FitDesk and it sounds amazing. I could answer emails, read your posts, etc… and people give it great reviews. So if you have figured out the typing and peddling thing that might be an option. 2) Ali Kamenova Yoga. She has a youtube channel and a subscription based membership and both are awesome. Just the free youtube videos will give you plenty of variety and difficulty. And yes, please do an episode of all things related to having 2-X chromosomes. Thank Sisters!
